Vintage Notes
March rains delayed bud break and the region experienced beautiful weather during flowering, leading to great fruit set.
The mild weather provided an even growing season and longer hang time, allowing the fruit to develop more concentrated flavors. Yields were lighter than in 2018, but similar in bold flavors, fresh acidity and pretty aromatics.
Vineyard Notes
The fruit was harvested from Estate Block 1 and Block 12. Block 1 is planted in 4’ x 8’ rows of head-trained vines, on a well-drained, alluvial plain with deposits of gravel and rock helping to produce, year-after-year, outstanding Petite Sirah grapes. Block 12 is on the north side of South Livermore Ave where it intersects with Concannon Blvd. The austere, gravelly and rocky top soil causes excellent drainage and low water retention which encourage roots to delve deep into rich subsoils to find nourishment.
