Vintage Notes
After a dry winter, the 2020 growing season began with typical temperatures and normal timing for bud break and flowering. As summer progressed, there were a couple heat waves and experienced poor air quality from the Complex Fires during the fall months. Fortunately, the smoke wasn’t heavy enough in Livermore Valley to impact our grapes. The quality fruit produced balanced wines with great acidity, although the yields were slightly below average.
Vineyard Notes
The Cabernet fruit came from our Estate Block 7 vineyard. The deep, gravelly soils in this vineyard promote low to moderate vigor, encouraging the vines to produce rich, concentrated fruit. Water rains quickly in this soil which compels deep root growth for accessing water and nutrients found in the rich subsoils below. The
Malbec is from Block 10 located behind the winery.
